The Transformation of APAC’s Creative Economy
Challenge
Netflix partnered with The Economist to explore and showcase the evolving dynamics of Asia-Pacific’s creative economy. The challenge was to develop a web experience that could house regional insights, sectoral trends, and interviews with cultural leaders—all while capturing the visual and emotional energy of the creative industry. The platform needed to feel editorial, but also expressive and future-forward.
Recipe
We approached the design as a canvas for regional storytelling:

Design for Discovery: The UX was structured to enable thematic deep dives—allowing users to explore by country, industry, or insight, without losing context.

Creative Resonance: We embraced a more vibrant, image-rich design language—using color gradients, portraiture, and dynamic scroll animations to echo the creative sector’s vitality.

Balance of Voice and Visuals: Editorial sections retained the gravitas of The Economist, while the design tone softened to allow Netflix’s cultural lens to shine through.
Result
The final experience became a benchmark for editorial storytelling with creative sector flair. It balanced rigour and warmth, helping Netflix position itself as a patron of culture and a forward-thinking force within APAC’s creative economy.
